McMartin & Beggins Furniture Makers have been making high-quality furniture for some of the most prestigious homes for over twenty years from our workshop on Maryland's Eastern shore. We specialize in the design and construction of custom pieces, made in a variety of styles - from the 18th century through the modern era. All created with traditional benchcrafted techniques.
Jim McMartin, a native of Annapolis, founded the company in St. Michaels in 1998. Using his expertise as a wooden boat builder and restorer, he turned his attention to antique furniture restoration in 1987. McMartin designs every piece that is crafted and works closely with our clients throughout the development and building of the work.
Jim Beggins joined the firm in 1994 and became a partner five years later. Like McMartin, his woodworking career began as a boatbuilder. Growing up on the Great South Bay of Long Island., he and his family sailed to St. Michaels in 1993. Beggins is a meticulous craftsman who brings an innate engineering approach to furniture making.
