Jim McMartin, a native of Annapolis, founded the company in St. Michaels in 1988.  Using his expertise as a wooden boatbuilder and restorer, he turned his attention to furniture. McMartin designs every piece we craft and works closely with our clients throughout the development and building of the work.

 

Jim Beggins joined the firm in 1994 and became a partner five years later.  Like McMartin, his woodworking career began as a boatbuilder.  Growing up on the Great South Bay of Long Island, he and his family sailed to St. Michaels in 1993.  Beggins is a meticulous craftsman who brings an innate engineering approach to furniture making.
